Raytheon has assembled a team of superb small and large businesses with the expertise and relevant experience to excel in meeting AWIPS’ O&M and evolutionary needs.

Raytheon, as the prime contractor and Mission Services Integrator for AWIPS, leads this integrated program team of best-in-class companies. Our team combines relevant AWIPS experience with the ability to produce innovative, cost-effective, and commercial best-practice hardware, software, and communications solutions.

The Raytheon AWIPS Team includes nine small and large businesses, each of which brings specific strengths and expertise to the team. They are:

Raytheon. With 80,000 employees, Raytheon is a global leader in information technology and science mission support. We have supported nearly every civilian and defense agency of the United States, and we are especially proud of our support to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which has been continuous since the late 1970s. We design, engineer, operate, and maintain large-scale, critical information systems, and deliver world-class science data management and support services in meteorology, geophysics, oceanography, and remote sensing. As a Corporate Patron of the American Meteorological Society, we are dedicated to the advancement of atmospheric and related sciences.

Keane Federal Systems, Inc. Industry leader Keane brings commercial best practices to the AWIPS program. Keane has produced demonstrated savings for public- and private-sector customers in performance-based contracting and O&M contracts.

Globecomm Systems, Inc. Globecomm specializes in turnkey, value-added, satellite-based communications infrastructure and space segment services. Globecomm owns and operates multiple teleports, including its primary facility in Hauppauge, N.Y., now the base for AWIPS’ Satellite Broadcast Network.

ENSCO, Inc. ENSCO, an expert in weather applications, has on-target AWIPS experience. ENSCO designs weather information systems and integrates them into decision support structures.

GTSI. GTSI is a vendor-neutral hardware and COTS software provider with a 20-year history of providing IT solutions to federal government customers, including NOAA and AWIPS. GTSI specializes in technology planning and refresh as well as COTS acquisition.

Reston Consulting Group, Inc. (RCG). RCG specializes in communications architecture and engineering innovations in support of NOAA and other customers. RCG has core strengths in satellite and terrestrial communications and experience in software development, integration and test, enterprise architecture, and security.

Fairfield Technologies, Inc. (FTI). FTI has applied its expertise in database architecture and applications at the NWS, providing technical and consulting leadership in AWIPS database design initiatives. FTI has expertise in hydrology, meteorology, and scientific applications.

Apex Digital Systems. As the incumbent software architect for new AWIPS hydrologic applications, Apex brings both system and software expertise to the team.

Earth Resources Technology, Inc. (ERT). ERT is a provider of database and Web development support to large, data-intensive NASA earth and atmospheric sciences programs.
